The new lawn is part of the $ 11.8 million overhaul of the Clarence TC Chin Athletics Complex at UH Manoa.
The Sports Turf Hawaii crew has the UH logo on one end zone of the Clarence TC Chin Athletics Complex football field in Manoa. They are preparing the Rainbow Warriors home opener lawn for Portland State University on September 4th. This is the first time a UH football team has played on the Manoa campus after a 104-season match.
The new lawn is part of the $ 11.8 million overhaul of the Chin Complex. The refurbishment will include a new scoreboard, 6,500 additional seats (currently a total of 9,000), a press box, a kiosk and more. Plans are underway to accommodate 15,000 fans in the 2022 season. UH took action at the end of 2020, when Aloha Stadium was closed for repairs. Six home games are planned for 2021, and the 19th Hawaii Bowl will be held on Christmas Eve.
