Madrid — British man in Spanish prison at US request Ministry of Justice Over 130 accounts of politicians, celebrities and businesses have been compromised in connection with the July 2020 Twitter hack.
Joseph O’Connor is currently waiting for the possibility of surrender. At a court hearing in Spain on Thursday, the 22-year-old boy refused to be voluntarily transferred to the United States.
The· DOJ says O’Connor has been charged with several charges, including a conspiracy to intentionally access a computer without permission, sending communications containing threats, creating threatening communications, and cyberstalking.
During the 2020 hack, a well-known account sent a fake tweet asking followers to send Bitcoin payments. Fake tweets came from many accounts, including former President Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Mike Bloomberg, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk.
O’Connor is at least the fourth suspect charged in connection with the case. He denied cheating.
