Union, South Carolina (WSPA) – Law enforcement indicted Union County High School students for loading a parking lot with firearms on Monday.

They say the survey began with a post on the county’s social media. According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the post contained a threat from one high school student to another. Captain Scott Coffer says the post showed what looked like a firearm.

“Currently, we are actively investigating for social media posts that occurred before the high school incident,” said Captain Coffer.

Coffer says he learned about the obvious threat when his parents filed a formal complaint on Monday. He says that what started in the county spread to the city when the incident happened in high school. Police chief Robert Magee says it was the school that searched for the students involved. McGee says it was then that he discovered the loaded 9mm pistol.

“One vice-principal found a weapon on the console and she handed it over to another vice-principal. He put away the weapon. He contacted the SRO and handed it to the SRO at that point because the student was there. , They arrested her, “said Maggie.

McGee says he doesn’t know if the arrested students are responsible for any of the online threats, but they were somehow involved in the online exchange. He says the school acted swiftly and no students were in immediate danger. He says the gun stayed in the parking lot.

“You don’t know what the intention was. We can continue what people say, but did she know it’s there? Because she uses it later. Did you take it? I can’t think of anything. I don’t know, but I’m glad the school behaves like them, “said Maggie.

The county is currently investigating another obvious threat. Coffer says he put a knife in the photo and another social media post surfaced.

“In fact, for some kind of retaliation for what happened in high school,” said Captain Coffer.

Both law enforcement agencies say communication was the key to a quick resolution of the case.

Captain Coffer says they are still investigating social media posts. It can lead to accusations from the county.

A student arrested on Monday faces a boy’s allegations of possessing firearms on school grounds. They will soon appear in the juvenile court.
