UNM’s Hanging of the Greens tradition returns to campus – Albuquerque, New Mexico

Albuquerque, New Mexico (KRQE) – Keeping the tradition, University of New MexicoThe annual Hanging of the Greens will be back in person on Friday, December 3, 2021. news release, UNM states that the event will start at 5:30 pm in front of the UNM bookstore.

During the Hanging of the Green, guests can take a self-guided tour of the campus, which is adorned with over 13,000 Luminaria. In addition, visitors can sing with Caroler at the Zimmerman Library, enjoy Bizcochito, hot cocoa and Pozole, and watch a free screening of “It’s a Wonderful Life” at the SUB Theater.

UNM needs a decorator for the event. UNM’s Mortar Board Association seeks help from several student groups around the campus.

There is another briefing session that provides details such as lighting fixture placement, sand, cleanup, maps and more. The session will be held on Wednesday, December 1st at 4 pm at the Mortar Board Office in Students’ Union Building Room 1065.
