Atlanta, Georgia 2021-10-10 15:30:00 –

Update (CBS46)-The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has confirmed that two adults and two children were killed in a plane crash at Dicarb Peachtree Airport on Friday.

The NTSB held a press conference for the media on Sunday morning, and investigators confirmed that the model of the plane was the 1978 Cessna P2N10.

Authorities have not disclosed the victim’s name at this time.

Daniel Boggs, an NTSB aviation safety inspector, says the plane was taking off to go to Houston, Texas because they believed it was a personal trip.

According to the NTSB, the fire severely damaged the plane, making it difficult to investigate.

“Today we will bring the aircraft to a safe facility and use as many systems and engines as possible for the next few days,” Boggs said.

Boggs said he plans to find maintenance and pilot records.

They do not believe that the weather is a factor.

Investigators will work on the aircraft for a few days and publish a preliminary report within two weeks. It will be published on the NTSB website.

The final report may take 12-18 months to be published.

As it is a personal airplane, there is no black box or (CVR) cockpit voice recorder.
