Upgrades to downtown Mariposa making streets safer for pedestrians – Fresno, California

Mariposa, CA (KFSN)-Work is underway to improve pedestrian roads and safety in downtown Mariposa.

The new project will include the installation of curbs and gutters along State Highway 140.

Sidewalks and wheelchair ramps have also been added in front of the company.

Pedestrian-operated warning lights are installed at intersections to warn drivers when people are crossing the road.

County leaders say it’s important to maintain the historic look and feel of downtown Mariposa while completing the upgrade.

“We are working with Mariposa County on historic style ceiling lighting. They actually bought those fixtures and Caltrans installed them,” spokeswoman Bob Hyfil said. Stated.

The pedestrian safety project started in May. Must be finished by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
