Paris-On Monday, the European Union and the United States agreed to further coordinate actions to “mitigate the negative effects” of Russia’s war in Ukraine on the global economy.
In Saclay, southwestern Paris, the EU Commission, government agencies from 27 countries and representatives of the US government gathered to discuss cooperation issues.
A joint statement after the EU-US Trade Technology Council meeting on Monday said it promised to “work with Ukraine to rebuild the economy and promote trade and investment.”
They also agreed to develop a “common analytical framework” for identifying Russian information manipulation and interference.
The two parties especially praised “unprecedented cooperation on export control” aimed at preventing Moscow from further developing its industrial and military capabilities.
Marguerite Vestager, vice chairman of the European Commission for competition, said cooperation between the EU and the United States “beyond the reaction to war” in Ukraine.
“We can create a positive vision for democratic governance of the economy and the Internet,” she said.
