The University of Washington climbed one spot to 7th place. Best Global University Rankings in US News & World Report, Released on October 26th. UW remained second among public institutions in the United States.
“It’s nice to see the University of Washington’s influence on people and communities around the world,” said Ana Mari Course, President of the University of Washington. “I am very proud of the extraordinary talent and efforts of our faculty, students and staff who have stood up to face the challenges of these difficult and promising times.”
US News also ranked several subjects, with UW ranked in the top eight, including infectious diseases (No. 5), clinical medicine (No. 6), and earth sciences (No. 6).
Ranking methodology It is based on Web of Science data and metrics provided by Clarivate Analytics InCites and evaluates the factors that measure the university’s global and regional research reputation and academic research performance. In the overall ranking, this includes bibliometric indicators such as publications, citations and international cooperation.
According to US News, the comprehensive best global university rankings, now in its eighth year, include the top 1,750 universities across 90 countries. American universities occupy eight of the top ten spots.
