Vaccines designed to protect against all mosquito-borne diseases by changing the way our immune system responds to bites have been shown to be safe in small human trials. The results should reduce infections with the Zika virus and also show that mosquitoes that feed on vaccinated people lay fewer eggs.

“The results are very good,” said Olga Pleguezuelos of PepTcell, one of the companies involved in vaccine development funded by the UK and US governments.
