New York — The country’s largest nursing home operator told workers this week that they must be vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine to continue working.
Harry Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of Genesis Healthcare, said:
The company has 70,000 employees in nearly 400 elderly homes and senior communities.
Wilson said the company would prefer a voluntary process, but added that “health and safety efforts are more important than concerns about imposing requirements.”
“Universal COVID-19 vaccination provides the safest and most effective course of action to ensure the health and well-being of patients, residents and staff,” Wilson said.
