Hernandez admitted that he hit the man with a broken shovel handle and stabbed him with a screwdriver. Victims whose names were not disclosed could call 911 and said that Hernandez attacked him while he was asleep. According to police, Hernandez also called 911, but gave conflicting details about what happened. APD states that the evidence on the ground was consistent with the victim’s statement.

The victim was taken to the hospital and later died.
