Small businesses felt the pain of a pandemic, the closure of the adjacent cinema and Fresno State University campus, and the cancellation of events and graduations at the Savemart Center.
“The campus point location here relies heavily on the traffic that all these events bring,” says owner Keikim.
Kim says salary protection programs and disaster loans have highlighted the business, but even if a eater returns through her door, the COVID-related effects aren’t over.
“We’re having a big impact on us as supply chain issues continue throughout the year,” she says.
Today, many restaurants face labor shortages, rising rents and rising costs.
As a result, the $ 3,000 loan from the California Restaurant Foundation’s RistorantesCareResilience Fund couldn’t be faster.
“Restaurant owners are messy. Very creative. I’ve seen many restaurants change their business models and concepts to overcome,” says Foundation Alycia Harshfield.
Over 350 restaurants have won prizes, including Bulldoc, Kocky’s Bar and Grill in downtown, Las Mananitas in southeastern Fresno, and 14 other valley restaurants.
Kim says he had to be creative to deal with the cost of materials that more than doubled.
“Before the pandemic, we paid less than $ 20 per case, but now we’re between $ 48 and $ 50,” she says.
Employees of individual restaurants are also eligible for Foundation support-workers facing unexpected crises such as injuries, housing accidents and car accidents.
