VDOT to close portion of Winwood Dr. in Virginia Beach for utility work – Virginia Beach, Virginia

Virginia Beach, Virginia (WAVY) — VDOT workers close part of Virginia Beach’s Winwood Drive for utility work.

The service will start on July 19th at Winwood Drive on Ruskin Road (south side of Ruskin Road) to the east for about two days. This work is part of the Ruskin Road Bridge Replacement and Widening Project.

Closure near Ruskin Road Annex limits turns to Winwood Drive South side Ruskin Road starts at 9am on July 19th and ends around 9am on July 21st.

The mainline Ruskin Road remains open at all times. This closure and detour will not directly affect Winwood Drive on the north side of Ruskin Road and will lead to the Linlar district.

A driver traveling west on Ruskin Road and trying to access Winwood Drive on the south side of Ruskin Road will make a U-turn and follow the same detour as traffic heading east. Winwood Drive drivers who need access to the mainline Ruskin Road reverse the detour.

While work is in progress, the signed detour will instruct the driver to access Winwood Drive in the following ways:

  • Head east on Ruskin Road (towards the oceanfront).
  • Turn right onto Fremac Drive.
  • Turn right onto Reynard Drive.And
  • Re-access to Winwood drive.
