Las Vegas (KTNV) — April is Financial Literacy Month, and Delta Academy makes the most of that month’s responsible spending message in the classroom.
Richard Sipin has been teaching math and financial literacy to future leaders in Las Vegas for the past three years.
Shipin said education is important because it has real-world applications such as budgeting, savings, responsible spending, and debt.
This class recently completed a major project in which students were assigned income levels and needed to balance their budget, including all actual spending.
According to Sipin, the students quickly learned how much they could grow a dollar.
“You bring $ 3000 a month home, which is pretty good,” he said. “That is, you can get it done, but they see the cost, rent, car, everything you know, go into life at the end of the month. At the end of the month you almost save. Not enough. “
According to Sipin, the student blockbuster was a career and college planning lesson that taught how to handle debt and loans.
His advice was for young men and women to understand their debts and shop because not all loans are built the same.
