Las Vegas (KTNV) — Empty shelves and delayed deliveries raise concerns for shoppers to quickly find the right gift. Local retailers are struggling to meet demand at the peak of the holiday shopping season just weeks away.

Supply chain disruptions are affecting local small businesses as well as large retailers. At Pop Shack in Boulevard Mall, owner Matthew Gargiulo says his store is in limited stock. As a result, he had to contact all suppliers to make sure they had enough products before the holiday season.

“The way we’re experiencing it now, people may not have what they want on vacation,” Gargiulo said.

Shipments are delayed because container ships are clogging the port and waiting for unloading. Gargiulo says he currently expects to take up to six months to replenish the product, before it takes weeks. Gargiuro says he had to adjust prices with a limited amount of supplies.

“Everything is 10% to 20% higher than last year,” Gargiulo explained.

The impact of this supply chain is also evident in neighboring states. Kru Hicks is a California resident looking for a particular collection. The store back in California was out of stock, so he drove to Las Vegas for three hours looking for gifts.

He was already thinking about Christmas, worried that his loved ones wouldn’t get what they wanted under the tree this year.

“I think people need to go out and plan ahead because it’s really hard to find something. If you haven’t started shopping, you need to shop now,” Hicks explains. bottom.

Gargiuro says he expects this year to be the busiest year to date.

“When they can’t find it in the retail environment, they’ll have to come to such a small store to find what they’re looking for.”

Gargiuro says his supplier is telling him that the delay will only get worse. He encourages everyone to finish their holiday shopping early rather than later to make sure they find the gift you want.
