Minneapolis >> A woman was killed and three others were killed when a vehicle boarded a demonstrator during a protest in the Minneapolis area where a black man was fatally shot this month during an attempted arrest by a member of the Federal Task Force. Police said they were injured today.

The crash occurred on Sunday at around 11:40 pm in the uptown area of Minneapolis. Witnesses said the SUV driver had hit a parked car and threw it into a crowd of demonstrators. Police spokesman John Elder did not confirm the account and said authorities were still investigating.

Police said protesters had pulled the driver out of the car and witnesses had told police that demonstrators had begun to beat the driver. The driver was detained and was being treated for an injury at the hospital.

Witnesses told Minnesota Public Radio that the SUV was moving very fast and appeared to be accelerating as it approached the demonstrators who were blocking the streets. DJ Hooker said the driver collided with a car parked in one of the lanes and flew that car.

“There was a row of barriers, then a second barrier, and he speeded up. He speeded up. As he approached us, he went even faster. You I was able to hear that … it starts going even faster as he gets closer to us, “Hooker said. “A car went through the air and attacked a young woman,” he told Minnesota Public Radio.

Another witness, Brett Williams, said the woman was thrown into a traffic light.

The female brother identified her as Deona M. Knajdek. Garrett Knajdek told Star Tribune that his sister would celebrate his 32nd birthday on Wednesday. She said she had daughters aged 11 and 13 and was actively involved in the issues surrounding social justice.

“She has always (previously) sacrificed herself for everyone around her,” he said.

Authorities have not disclosed the names of the driver and the injured.

Police said the driver’s motives were not immediately apparent, but preliminary investigations showed that drugs and alcohol could be the cause.

In addition to the dead woman, three other protesters were injured, police said.

Other injuries and deaths have been reported involving cars in protests across the United States as people are increasingly being taken to the streets to push their dissatisfaction. In Minneapolis, marching to the highway has become a common tactic in recent years. A semi-trailer rolled into a crowd marching on a closed Minneapolis highway after George Floyd’s death last year. No one was seriously injured.

In response to these protests, Republican politicians in several states, including Oklahoma, Florida, and Iowa, have sought legal immunity from drivers who beat the protesters.

Protests have continued about 2 1/2 miles (4 km) south of downtown since the U.S. Marshals Service shot dead three 32-year-old fathers, Winston Boogie Smith Jr., on June 3. Was there. Marshall Service Task Force. The uptown area is a mix of trendy restaurants, shops and theatres that are popular with young professionals in the city, many of whom live in apartments and condominiums in the area.

Officials said Smith, who had been wanted for a weapons breach, fired a gun in Minneapolis before lawmakers shot him deadly. The city is at stake since Floyd died under a policeman’s lap and recent deadly police shot and killed another black man, Killing of Daunte, in a nearby suburb.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force were trying to arrest Smith on suspicion of a felony in possession of a gun, officials said. In a statement, Marshall Service said Smith, who was in a parked vehicle, did not comply with law enforcement and “as a result of manufacturing a pistol, members of the MTF fired at it.” State investigators said evidence showed that he fired a gun from inside his car.

Smith died on the scene. A state investigator said a 27-year-old female Smith passenger was treated for an injury caused by broken glass. But the woman said she had never seen a gun in Smith or in the car, her lawyer said last week-contradictory to investigators’ claims about Smith’s actions.
