Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale replied Wednesday to a tweet about US Secretary of Transportation Pete Butttigieg, who quit his job to care for his newborn twins.
“Any man in a key position to take a six-month vacation for a newborn is a loser. In the olden days, men gave birth to babies and worked hard to prepare for the future. This is the correct masculine reaction. is.”
Wow. Great for fathers to spend time with their children and support their mothers, but any man in an important position to take a six-month vacation for a newborn is a loser.
Once upon a time, men gave birth to babies and worked hard to prepare for the future. That is the correct masculine reaction.

Butigeg took off in just two months instead of six months for childcare leave.
Lonsdale’s tweet caused anger in the venture capitalist world. In response to Lonsdale’s tweet, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian wrote that he would “proudly” take full parental leave and do it again.
“It turned out that it helped me win even more,” he said.
I proudly take and do full parental leave again. It turned out to have helped me win even more. https://t.co/7HOVCwZ2F2

Garry Tan, the founder of Initialized Capital, defended his company’s four-month parental leave.
“I respect people’s choices, but being a dad is great, and there’s more in life than work or money,” he wrote on Twitter.
Initialized had a four-month vacation and spent all four months so that everyone at Initialized felt they could do it.
We respect that people have different choices, but being a dad is great and there is more in life than work or money.

Lonsdale later said that the use of the word “loser” was “unnecessary” and “respected that there were different approaches to this and it shouldn’t have been too strict.” However, he endorsed the first comment on the traditional gender role.
His first tweet Axios Reporter Dump RimacCriticized comments on podcast host Joe Rogan’s Butigeg. Like Logan, Lonsdale is known for his provocative right-wing remarks.
In November 2020, Lonsdale said he moved from San Francisco to Austin, Texas and was angry with California’s taxes and liberal ideals. According to the website, he is currently a managing partner of 8VC, a “venture capital firm that manages billions of dollars in commitment capital.”
