Colorado Springs, Colorado — Veterans are currently biking in Colorado and traveling nationwide to raise support and awareness of the injured warrior project.
Marine Corps veteran Nick Novotny began trekking 4,000 miles in June. Novotny said it was all about honoring his friend Cpl. James Curry died last May.
Novotny said he hopes his trip will be the voice of loneliness and lost people and raise awareness of the importance of mental health in the military.
“You don’t have to live in these closed rooms and try to hide all the problems from the world,” Novotny said. “I think we’re putting a big exclamation mark on mental health right now. If you’re feeling sick, don’t worry if you don’t know how to talk about yourself. There’s a problem, but some people care. increase.”
Novotney hopes to arrive in Curry’s hometown of Glenside, Pennsylvania by Labor Day.
