Virginia Beach, Virginia (WAVY) —The Small Business Saturday Marketplace in Virginia Beach’s Vibe district was booming with local entrepreneurs.
There was a little bit of everything from jewelry to clothes to soap. And when you headed, you could get a small tote bag from a free store.
One of the vendors was Alexa Bailey, owner of Bewitched Beauty. Her handmade organic and vegan skin care lines got off to a good start three years ago.
“I probably spent 80 to 100 hours a week on this business easily,” Bailey said.
She wants people this holiday season to stop by and shop at local spots before heading to the big box store.
“We don’t get stuck because everything is happening with news such as stuck cargo ships. That’s why we want them to shop together. We tell them that we work in your community. I want you to understand, we are here, we are making our products, we want you to come see us, “Bailey added.
Some tents were Jenn Loots, the owner of Cherry Stoner LLC.
She decided to quit her job and start her own business selling T-shirts and other items designed with original artwork.
She says items may be cheaper elsewhere, but the rewards are much more than a few dollars.
“Prices may be better, but you don’t support your area. You don’t support the people you live with, work with, and meet every day. That money Has not been looked back and returned to the community, “Loots said.
These business owners say that small purchases are spreading the love of the community.
