Big Bear, California-A dramatic video captured the aftermath of a lightning strike when a large pine tree broke out in half near Big Bear in Southern California.

This video shows that Jeffrey Pine, which is believed to be over 200 years old, is on fire after a lightning strike. After a few minutes, the trunk is simply split in two and the flames fall to either side.

The footage of the tree opposite Big Bear Airport was taken by Michael Bogan, who says he saw and heard the flash of light. He tweeted. “It was a gorgeous, healthy tree over 200 years old that had an unlucky day.”

After extinguishing the fire, the firefighters later cut down the rest of the tree.

The San Bernardino National Forest Fire Department said firefighters responded to five separate incidents of burning trees in a lightning strike on Saturday.
