Vietnam, Singapore should optimize FTAs ​​to boost cooperation: Minister

According to former Minister of Industry Nguyen Hong Dien, Vietnam and Singapore need to further optimize their free trade agreements (FTAs), which they are members of to strengthen their bilateral business partnerships. He proposed this in a recent online conference in dialogue with Singapore’s Second Minister of Trade and Industry Tan See Leng.

Vietnam and Singapore are the only two countries in the region that have comprehensive agreements with the European Union and the United Kingdom, so they need to help each other to further leverage the market, Dien said.

According to Vietnam’s official announcement, Singapore is currently Vietnam’s fifth largest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Vietnam’s third largest foreign investor, boasting $ 62.55 billion in 2,769 projects.
