Virginia Beach, Virginia (WAVY)-Virginia Beach’s Maiachaka became the first black woman to play an NFL match on Sunday.
Chaka, Virginia Beach Renaissance Academy Health and Physical Education TeacherWorked as a line judge for the Jets-Panthers game in Charlotte.
“It’s an honor for me to be chosen to represent women and women of color in America’s most popular sport,” Chaka said in a pre-match official NFL Instagram post.
In the history of the league, there were only female officers from Chaka, Sarah Thomas and Shannon Eastin.
Chaka graduated from Norfolk State University in 2006 and is in the league. We made a historic announcement in March at the Today Show.
