Omaha, Nebraska (KMTV) — As the Memorial Day approaches, it reminds us of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in their service to the country.
Volunteers and organizers started with Council Bluffs and headed to Omaha with flags and equipment for those who died while serving the country.
Carry the Road is a national organization established to promote awareness of the importance of Memorial Day.
The relay team roams the country and spreads awareness, wearing the equipment of corrupt military personnel.
There may have been few groups in the Omaha area, but the message they wanted to convey was nothing.
Cody Banders, Ambassador of Carry the Road, said:
Volunteers wore the equipment of someone who made the ultimate sacrifice to serve the country.
Volunteers walked from the Council Bluffs fire department to the Memorial Park. They walked for soldiers near and far.
“It’s emotional,” said volunteer Christa Sebining. “It’s really heartfelt to know why we do this.”
Volunteer Walkers using Carry the Road record 20,000 miles per year among five relay teams.
