Bakersfield, California 2022-05-05 20:26:00 –
A two-day event to support Bakersfield Relay For Life will begin on Saturday at Khan County Fairgrounds.
Hundreds of supporters, volunteers, and survivors typically seek help from nonprofits nationwide at the annual event, the largest fundraiser of the year for the American Cancer Society.
After a 12-hour effort to set up the event on Friday, the two-day event gate will open at 7:00 am on Saturday.
The end of the opening ceremony on Saturday morning will be marked by Survivor Wrap. It calls on people who have or are fighting cancer to take the first step.
At the Luminaria Ceremony, which takes place late Saturday night, pedestrians wrap by lighting candles for friends and loved ones who have lost the fight against cancer.
