Albuquerque, New Mexico (KRQE) – Bernalillo County Animal Care and Resource Center Has an important volunteer program that encourages volunteers to participate in shelters. Volunteer coordinator Jolene Hewitt talks about the program and states that she needs volunteers. Some volunteer positions are for walking dogs and helping in kennels.

Hewitt also says that becoming a foster parent for cats and dogs is another way to volunteer. Most foster care is 2 to 6 weeks for breastfeeding mothers and their litters, young kittens, puppies, injured pets, or animals that need to be socialized or away from shelters.
