Wichita, Kansas (KSNW) – The first ever Friday Night Street Drug race began on Friday night at the Kansas International Drugway on the 61st. St. Andridge. Hundreds of people brought out their cars at a low price of $ 25.
It was more than a grandma’s Buick running on Friday night. In addition to four-wheeled vehicles, motorcycles also ran through the dragway. The organizers say the event is a great way to provide street racers with a legitimate alternative to Fast & Furious.
Dave Dokkens, co-owner of the Kansas International Drugway, said: “A little education can be very helpful. This place is very open and it is much safer to race in drag races rather than on the road.”
Race participant Dallas Dili said: “There are so many accidents with local children that they are out of control.”
This is the first time Dragway has hosted this event, but it’s not the last. The event has even more Friday dates, including July 16, July 23, August 6, August 13, and August 27.
The Kansas International Dragway is located on 7860 West 61st Street.Click for more information on the Kansas International Dragway here.
