Nashville, Tennessee (WTVF) — Police officers in Metro Nashville have arrested and charged Walgreens pharmacy employees and two others for illegally obtaining prescription painkillers.
Pharmacy worker Dor Charika McKinney, 27, allegedly handed out customer prescriptions to 21-year-old Robert Toran and 22-year-old Cameron Welsch. Authorities say they will use that information to buy the victim’s medicine before they get the medicine themselves.
Citizens contacted police about his wife’s medication after it was picked up by someone other than him or his wife at the location of Clarksville Pike. After three months of research, McKinney acknowledged his involvement in the plan. The illegal activity began shortly after McKinney was hired at the end of November.
Police say 1,300 prescription drugs were diverted from the patient before she was arrested. McKinney has been charged with 11 plots of personal information theft and felony drug plots. Thoran and Welsh have also been charged with theft of personal information and possession of felony drugs. Thoran is being held in lieu of a $ 90,000 bond. Welsh is free with a $ 55,000 bond.
Police say more arrests are expected as the investigation is underway.
