Wolhara, South Carolina (WSPA) —Sheriff’s Office in Oconee County has announced murder charges against a Wolhara man in connection with a deadly mobile home fire.
The fire broke out on February 11th at 540 Adams Sullivan Road near Rock Crusher Road and Coffee Road near Walhara. An agent arrived at the scene and found the mobile home completely swallowed.
The body of the homeowner, 65-year-old Marlan Frank Sparks, was later found in the dwelling. Investigation revealed that 28-year-old Christopher Edward Barrel knocked out Sparks by hitting him with aluminum baseball.
Lawmakers said Barrel lit the house.
Barrel was warranted yesterday in Oconee County Detention Center, where he was detained for unrelated charges. Barrel is still in custody.
