Wheeling, West Virginia (AP) — A Wal-Mart worker in West Virginia was accused of stealing a $ 124,000 gift card in five months.
Kenneth Welkau of Clarington, Ohio was charged in three federal courts in Wheeling on Wednesday for wire fraud.
The prosecution said 63-year-old Welkau was hired as an associate at Wal-Mart in Moundsville. He has been accused of stealing and activating gift cards from September 2019 to January 2020.
If convicted, Verkau could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $ 250,000 per case.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Verkau had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
