Pueblo, Colorado-Pueblo police are seeking assistance in searching for suspects involved in the shooting of off-duty firefighters.
At around 12:25 am on June 6, 2021, police officers in Pueblo responded to an address located 100 blocks north of Main Street about the shooting that had just occurred. When the police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound on his leg. He was taken to the hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury.
Investigations began and it was discovered that the victim of the shooting was an off-duty Pueblo firefighter who was with a group of off-duty colleagues. While standing outside a building 100 blocks on N. Main Street, the (final) shooting victim harassed a homeless man who appears to be experiencing some mental health problem. The immediate area and the victims of the final shooting have returned to their original location.
After a while, a sedan parked outside a nearby facility fired several times in the direction of the victim. The victim was once beaten in the leg.
On June 8, 2021, Pueblo police issued a press release announcing that the suspect was identified and an arrest warrant was issued. On the same day, the Pueblo Police Department issued a second press release informing the public that new information was available to wipe out the first suspect.
Further investigation by Pueblo police has identified the suspect as Stephen Jesus Hernandez, now 38 years old.One arrest warrant issued to Hernandez
Eight counts of assault and one attempted murder.
