Washington reports at least 3 omicron cases – Portland, Oregon

Portland, Oregon (KOIN) – Washington has reported at least three cases of Omicron COVID mutants. This is because mutants were found in at least one-third of the country.

In Washington State, three cases were reported from the Thurston, Pierce, and King counties. The cases are not considered relevant.

The State Health Department does not provide much information, but the state does contact tracing and monitors COVID tests from travelers.

The concern is that the variant spreads more easily than Delta and can re-infect people infected with COVID. Scientists are studying whether current vaccines can prevent illness and hospitalization in infected people.

No cases of Omicron have been reported in Oregon, but the state is under Omicron surveillance.

Scientists tell KOIN 6 News that they are monitoring all COVID test samples for signs of mutation.

There are several more places where we do not plan to start the COVID vaccine. This includes Gresham’s former Kmart 440 Northwest Burnside. The clinic is open Monday to Saturday from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
