Reno, Nevada — Republican Senator Ben Keekheffer of Reno announced on Friday that he had resigned from the Nevada State Assembly.
Keekhafer said on Twitter that he had submitted his resignation to Governor Steve Sisolak on Thursday.
He didn’t state the reason for his resignation, but said he was grateful to the members who trusted him to represent them in the state government.
Kieckhefer first took office in 2011 and resigned more than a year before the end of his current four-year term.
His district includes parts of Carson City and Washoe County.
He is a former reporter with a degree in communication from DePaul University. He was a member of the Senate Finance Committee, the Senate Health and Welfare Committee, and the Senate Revenue Economic Development Committee.
