At around 7:50 pm, the WFD said the crew at Station 22 advised that heavy smoke was coming from the front and back of the second and third floors and the three-story apartment building.
“Many people were actively evacuating the building and several were reportedly trapped,” WFD said. “A big fire was spreading in the attic and roof. The alarm was upgraded to a trapped person and required an additional second alarm response.”
According to the fire department, four citizens and two firefighters were treated for injuries at the scene.
As of Friday night, WFD reported that the cause of the fire was under investigation. The fire department reported that the fire and water severely damaged 6 units and made 10 more uninhabitable. The American Red Cross has responded to help refugees.
WFD reported an estimated loss of $ 200,000 on the building of the apartment and $ 50,000 on the contents.
“But no life has been lost,” WFD said in a post on the Facebook page. “Their families have a lot to rebuild, but they still have each other.”
