President Joe Biden held his first bilateral meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday, with the two leaders effectivelyPandemic.
Biden and Trudeau released the “US-Canada Partnership Roadmap,” detailing their commitment to address mutual concerns after the two leaders spoke at the virtual conference. These common goals include fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, sustaining economic recovery, tackling the climate crisis, strengthening continental defense, and strengthening global alliances.
“I don’t have as close friends in the United States as Canada,” Biden told Trudeau.
Trudeau, whose live feed was displayed on the monitor, said, “I’m very happy to meet you, Joe.” Trudeau told Mr. Biden that he was “really excited” to work with the United States again on climate change.
“US leadership has been badly overlooked in the last few years,” the Canadian Prime Minister said.

To strengthen the alliance, the blueprint calls for a resurgence of the North American summit as a “recommitment of solidarity” between the United States, Canada and Mexico, according to the White House.
This roadmap aims to “advance the common vision of prosperity, diversity, fairness and justice for all citizens.”
Mr Biden has vowed to rebuild the US alliance following the four years of former President Donald Trump’s “America First” foreign policy. The president attended the G7 virtual conference on Friday and promised up to $ 4 billion to COVAX, a World Health Organization-backed initiative aimed at ensuring equitable access to vaccines around the world.
