Lafayette, Louisiana (AP) — The Hurricane Delta, which tore a waterproof sheet from a damaged roof and scattered a large pile of storm debris in the wind and water, follows the path opened by Hurricane Laura just six weeks ago. Has brought new destruction to the Louisiana community.
The Delta was a hit as a Category 2 hurricane with strong winds at 100 mph (155 km) before it quickly weakened on the ground. Saturday mornings were strong winds at 40 mph (65 kph), with little tropical cyclones, but heavy rains, storm surge seawater, and flash floods caused much of southwestern Louisiana and adjacent parts of Texas. Continued to pose a danger. Mississippi also had a fair amount of rain overnight.
