A few miles west of Interstate Highway 70 on the outskirts of St. Louis will be temporarily closed on Wednesday as the bodies of marines killed in Afghanistan are escorted from Lambert Airport to a funeral home.

Wentzville, Missouri (KMOV.com) – At a Wednesday night meeting, the Wentzville City Council will discuss building a Veterans Memorial Plaza outside the recreation center.

The Plaza honored those who died on September 11, 2001, as well as fallen military personnel and police officers in the St. Charles County area, including the fallen Marine Corps LCpl. Jared Schmitz.

Suggestions include eternal flames, water functions, shade structures, creative playgrounds, pavilions with toilets, and commemorative tree / bench programs.
