LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The West Hall door of the Las Vegas Convention Center opens and the World of Concrete trade show officially takes place on Tuesday.
This trade fair is the first major convention in the West Hall since the pandemic and the first convention in Las Vegas.
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak attended the opening ceremony and said the tournament has been reopening for a long time.
“It’s been a long time coming to Nevada, but we’ve achieved it,” he said.
Sisolak cut the ribbon shortly before the participation of representatives of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority, Council Chairman Marilyn Kirkpatrick, and World of Concrete organizer Charlie McCardy, for nearly $ 1 billion. These statements were made during the official opening of the Westhall Expansion.
According to Sisolak, the World of Concrete trade show brings together 60,000 people and 1,500 businesses on or around the premises. This is a testament to how far Nevada is in the fight against the pandemic.
LVCVA president Steve Hill said they were shortening it because they had to book the show during the holidays to take place in June.
“I think this show will provide a demonstration that we can do this, and we all know what we can do, but by leaving the gate first, others Helps to gain confidence that it will happen, “Hill said.
Hill says Las Vegas lost $ 11 billion in convention losses in a year, but the good news is that Vegas has added another 3 million square feet of convention space since the beginning of the pandemic.
The president of LVCVA also says the team is working hard to regain an overseas trip to Las Vegas.
