Westminster High School going to remote classes until Sept. 22 after COVID-19 identified – Denver, Colorado

Denver, Colorado 2020-09-11 22:37:03 –

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Westminster High School will go to fully-remote classes until Sept. 22 after a case of COVID-19 was identified in a cohort of students at the school.

Westminster Public Schools announced the move Friday, saying the positive test was identified in a cohort of 101 students and six staff members, all of whom will be required to quarantine at home.

The district said Westminster High could continue to hold in-person classes safely, per guidance from the Tri-County Health Department. But because of the number of staffers who won’t be available for in-person classes, the district decided to send students home until Sept. 22.

“We have been preparing for this possibility and feel this decision is in the best interests of students and staff,” the district wrote in a letter to students, staff and parents.
