Wichita, KSN—Spring is in the air, with flowers and bees. Many people try to avoid these insects, but experts say it’s important not to kill them if they are encountered.
Bees are very important to the environment. They pollinate the food we eat along with the trees and flowers that other animals eat and live in.
In some cases, you may see a flock of them on a car or in a hut as you prepare to pull out the lawn mower. Wesley Wolken of American Beekeeping tells you to call an expert if you encounter a herd.
“So if you find a bee ball that looks like a man’s beard, or looks like soccer, or is shaped like a ball, call them. If you know a local beekeeper, tell them. Call me. They will come and take them, “Wolken said.
Wolken also says that most beekeepers get rid of the herd for free unless they are inside the house.
