Whitland Avenue July 4th Celebration

A large number of people gathered on Whitland Avenue every year for the celebration of July 4th.
The event started with a children’s parade. The children adorned their bicycles with red, white and blue buntings and ran down the street with small flags from the handlebars.
Small children were pulled by wagons decorated with patriotic themes and pushed into prams. And many dogs wore red, white, blue bandanas and other festive outfits.
After the parade, members of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra performed Sousa’s marches and patriotic songs, with dramatic readings, pledges of allegiance, and national anthems.
Following the program, we all enjoyed the hot dogs and soft drinks provided by the host committee.
As always, it was a fun event for everyone and rejuvenated in the best patriotic way.
