TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Wichita’s state legislator has abandoned his seat and is the third Democrat to resign this month in the Kansas House of Representatives.
Congressman Elizabeth Bishop told her colleagues Wednesday that she wanted to retire, which was the last day in Congress. It was also the last day of this year’s MP session.
Bishop was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016. Democratic State House Representatives Brett Parker and Overland Park Representative Stephanie Day also announced that they would resign earlier this month.
The Democratic Party of the Bishop district will elect a successor through the 2022 elections.
