KSNW, Wichita — A 31-year-old man was beaten and killed in a battle outside the Mulligans Pub early Friday morning.

The Wichita Police Department received a riot call about the Mulligans Pub, 8343 E. 32nd St. North, around 2 am on November 26th. Some callers have shown that there was a battle involving multiple people.

The victim, Alonzo Haywood of Wichita, was at the bar with some family members. After the store closed, there was a dispute between one of Haywood’s family and James Thomas, 51, of Wichita, according to investigators. Thomas was also in the pub with several people.

Police say the debate escalated when Thomas hit Haywood outside the pub. Haywood fell to the ground and hit his head. After that, more people started punching each other.

Friends took Haywood to the hospital to treat a serious injury. He died on Sunday.

Police found Thomas near an area of ​​mayhem. After the interview, they say they booked him in Sedgwick County Jail after Haywood’s death on suspicion of battery deterioration, which was later corrected to unintentional manslaughter.

Police have stated that they will submit the case to the district attorney’s office.
