Wichita, Kang (KSNW) — Wichita police arrested Wichita’s 27-year-old Neria Dilly on suspicion of felony murder and child abuse.
After 3:00 pm on Saturday, the dispatcher received a call for a non-breathing baby in 800 blocks of the South Mission.
Police officers and first responders went home and found one-year-old Miona Townley in crisis. She was rushed to the hospital but died of an injury. Police say the baby had evidence of trauma on her body.
Investigators say interviews and investigations of evidence led to Dilly’s arrest. Police say she is Townley’s mother.
Police are still investigating and will file the case with the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
A news release from WPD said, “WPD continues its thoughts and prayers for everyone affected by this tragic event.”
