Wichita Wind Surge unaffected by MLB lockout, will start season April 2022 – Wichita, Kansas

Wichita, Kang (KSNW) — Players were officially locked out for the first time since 1990 after the Major League Baseball and Major League Baseball Players Association failed to reach a collective bargaining agreement on Thursday.

Thanks to Windsurge fans, Wichita’s minor league baseball team announced on Friday that they would not be affected by lockouts and are preparing to start the season on April 8, 2022.

In his inauguration season in 2021, Windsurge finished seasons 69-51 and took first place in the regular season Double-A Central League. They lost three games in the Double A Championship Series.

Windsurge is a Minnesota Twins double A minor league affiliate. They will have a season at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers minor league affiliate Tulsa Drillers.
