KSNW, Wichita — A Wichita woman was attacked by a car while trying to cross a street in a construction area on Monday, October 18.
Just before 6 pm, Wichita police responded to reports of car and pedestrian accidents near the intersection of 13th and West Streets, according to Sergeant John Bogle of the Wichita police.
Sgt. Bogle says that when police arrived at the scene, they found a woman in her 40s unresponsive on the street. She was taken to a local hospital in crisis but then upgraded.
“At this point, I don’t think she has a life-threatening injury,” Sgt said. Bogle.
Through the investigation, Sgt. Wichita police say the woman was trying to cross the two lanes of the construction zone, but tried to cut behind the truck and pass 13th Avenue, and Wichita police believed she had mistimed the steps. It was too fast and hit the rear-view mirror on the passenger side.
Wichita police do not believe speed is a factor.
