Will Taco Bell’s four-lane drive-thru become a trend? – Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky

Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky 2022-08-05 10:40:39 –

It’s never been easier to order something on your phone and pick it up when it’s ready. Today, companies are looking to make the experience even smoother.

Chick-fil-A has added “express lanes” to some drive-thru locations. Available to those who pre-ordered on the app.

Taco Bell takes it a step further with a restaurant with four drive-thru lanes. Some lanes are for those who order ahead, and others are “traditional” lanes. The goal is to serve within 2 minutes.

PD Instore CEO Michael Strommen said:

Drive thru wait times have increased during the pandemic. Last year, the average move took him 6 minutes and 22 seconds.

Taco Bell’s new drive-thru can serve people in a third of the time.

Its designers believe the concept can be used in other industries where people face longer wait times.

“I think there’s an incredible opportunity in the healthcare industry, like Walgreens and CVS, for example,” Strommen said. “Anyone who has 20 minutes of questions in front of them, watch out. And you know, most, if not most, of us, there are no questions. Is required.”

Executives at Vertical Works, which designed the Taco Bell restaurant, say they want to work with other companies soon.

No formal plans have been announced.
