“Star Trek” actor William Shatner will actually head to space next week.
Blue Origin, a space flight company founded by former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Presentation Monday when Shatner blows up on one of the capsules around 9:30 am on Tuesday, October 12.
According to the company, Shatner will board the New Shepard NS-18 with Audrey Powers, Vice President of Mission and Flight Operations.
They will join crew members Chris Boshuizen and Glende Vries on a flight scheduled to take off from “Launch Site One” in western Texas.
“I’ve been hearing about the universe for a long time. I take the opportunity to see it myself. What a miracle,” Shatner said in a Blue Origin press release.
Shatner is best known for playing the role of Captain Kirk in the 1966 space-based science fiction franchise television series Star Trek.
Blue Origin says Shatner has long wanted to travel to space, and at the age of 90 he will be the oldest person to fly into space.
The flight marks the first successful human flight of Blue Origin on July 20, including Bezos and his brothers, aviation pioneer Wally Funk, and Blue Origin’s first customer Oliver Daemen. It is the one that follows.
