Wichita, Kansas 2021-05-01 09:45:44 –
We started comfortably in the 50’s this morning. The temperature will rise a little from yesterday. Most of today is in the 80’s.
The wind gets stronger with a little more clouds, but it still gets a lot of sunshine. Gusts can reach over 30 mph.
Due to its warm, dry and windy nature, fire weather warnings have been issued in several counties in the west and north.
Thankfully, it’s raining. The shower is slowly heading from Texas to Oklahoma. The impact on our weather is some of today’s drifting clouds and increased humidity.
As this system rises east and north, our central and eastern counties may be sprinkled or showered through on Sunday mornings.
The stronger impact on rain will come from the west. The cold front starts on Sunday.
This causes sporadic showers and storms to the west. Marginal risk has been issued for strong storms that can intensify beyond tight thresholds. Hail and strong winds are the main concerns.
By Monday morning, it will spread to showers scattered with isolated storms. Your Monday will be wet.
We are also paying attention to the possibility of stormy weather on Monday. Marginal risks occur south and east of Wichita and the highways. There was a slight risk to Oklahoma to the south and east.
The active pattern keeps showers by Thursday. Clouds and damp conditions weaken temperatures and barely reach them in the 1970s. We will stay in this cool trend until Friday, when more sunlight helps warm us up a bit. It doesn’t stay quiet for a long time. The next system will arrive early next weekend.
