Milwaukee — Authorities have identified the body of a woman found in Wisconsin 13 years ago, but are still investigating how she died.

The Fondrac County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that it used DNA samples from the body and dental x-rays found in a stream in 2008 to identify a dead woman as Amy Marie Yearley. She was 18 years old from Rockford, Illinois when she died.

Authorities buried her in 2011, but unearthed her body in 2018. The Fondue Luck County Sheriff’s Office is investigating how Yeary died.

“Amy was a victim of trafficking,” said Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt. “She was often transient, and the detective learned that she spent the weeks in Chicago, Beloit, and the Milwaukee area in the weeks before she died.”
