Wanette, OklahomaKFOR) – A woman in Oklahoma faces a second murder charge for attacking her husband with an ATV at a campsite after a food debate calls for her husband to divorce.
Christopher Lewis’ son, Christian Cornett, told KFOR that the battle between his father and stepmother initially began over food, but then escalated.
“He told her he wanted to divorce, and she said she was going to overrun him and kill him,” said Pottawatomie County Sheriff JT Palmer.
Sheriffs claim that the furious Chanel Lewis, 35, jumped on an ATV and shot a gun for her husband.
“Someone deliberately turned someone over, the first thing we’ve ever experienced,” Palmer said.
“That girl was screaming that her dad was dead!” Said the caller to the 911 dispatch from Soggy Bottoms ATV Trails. “Someone turned her dad over and said he was dead on one of our trails.”
Mr. Cornett said he hit his face after his stepmother beat his father and then tried to overrun both him and his teenage sister. Swelling around her eyes was still seen on her mugshot.
“It contained alcohol,” said the sheriff.
Cornett said he was still recovering from a real-life nightmare and was trying to figure out why the man who loved Mega Trucks and the muddy was gone.
“He is a great man and will help those in need,” Christian said in a statement. “I have 1,000 siblings because he was a father to everyone,” he added.
Chanel Lewis’s accusations were originally manslaughter, but they were promoted to a second murder after investigators found new evidence. The coroner’s office is still investigating the exact injury that killed Lewis.
